My students need new non-fiction books about animals, astronomy and Assorted Nonfiction, that will help them with common core standards. As readers, my students need to read more books that are informational.
Everyday, my students come in for a lesson on how to use the library, and as the year has gone by a lot of my students have started to realize how old our non-fiction section is. I want my students to be able to use the non-fiction section on a daily bases, for interest and research reading.
My students love to read and I love providing new and exciting things for them to read.
We have had a great year of exploring the library and how to use it. The teachers in my school have been trying really hard to bring more of the non-fiction books into their classroom, so my students are constantly looking for books they enjoy. They are great students who deserve to have more updated non-fiction books in their hands.
My Project
These non-fiction books will be used a lot for research for social studies and science projects, but they will also be used for interest reading. My students are always looking for books about animals, people, and many other non-fiction subjects. Reading is so important in my school and with non-fiction becoming more important then ever, as a librarian, I want my students to read non-fiction books. I want them to see how important and exciting informational texts can be.
This project will allow for me to expand my non-fiction selection for my students.
My students will be able to check-out new non-fiction books that have updated information. This project will also allow me to work on more projects with my students. We as a school can work on getting the students to use more non-fiction texts.
