This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember your favorite kindergarten book? Remember listening to it over and over again on tape? Remember memorizing the words on every page and feeling so proud because you could "read." My students need that feeling.

My students are amazing and make me want to be a better teacher every day.

As a first year teacher last year, I experienced many firsts dealing with the population I work with. I work at a title one school and deal with students who come from very little. For many, school is the one stability of their life. In my classroom, I want my students to feel rich. I want them to be so absorbed in learning by the end of the day, they go home drenched in new knowledge. I want them to love school and know that education is powerful and will take them places.

My Project

This listening station will change my students lives because they will be reading for a better life! My students will not only enjoy listening to stories, but get so many wonderful fundamental concepts about print by utilizing a listening station on their own.

This project is so important because it's for my students.

They deserve this. Everyone deserves to read for a better life and find that passion for reading like all of us did when we were in kindergarten.
