My students need 80 subscriptions to the Weekly Reader so that they have one more way to practice their reading skills and to research projects. The Weekly Reader will also be available for them to take home with them.

We are in a high-need community and have many 3rd grade students who are below grade level in reading and writing. They are anxious to learn, but often do not have the materials at home needed for practice.

I find that a variety of materials and topics are great at hooking in the "reluctant learner" who may not have access to these items at home.

The Weekly Reader has always been a favorite of my students because of the variety of stories, topics and photos that are presented. It meets the needs of the low reader as well as the high reader and works well for partner reading.

You will make it possible for our entire 3rd grade to learn the power of the printed word through the Weekly Reader newspaper.
