I teach in a K-2 12:1:1 classroom for students with Emotional Disturbance/Autism in a therapeutic school. In my classroom, students are learning to read, write, count/add/and/or subtract. Students are also learning how to use Social Emotional strategies when they become upset or frustrated, by listening to read a-louds, crafts, dramatic play, or writing. Our group loves to play outside,use technology, learn new games, participate in art activities, and dance to a sweet tune.
In this class, we build a community around our shared interests and experiences.
The activities we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. Every day we celebrate something our class excelled in.
My Project
The materials, technology, and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home" in our class. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! For example, the Social Emotional Books will be kept in our library, which students will have access to and will be used during Social Emotional Learning. The tablets will be used for students to read books and interact with their peers, the bins will be kept at each table that will have pens/pencils/erasers needed during literacy and math. The paint brushes will be used during various art projects throughout the school year.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' social emotional development and love for art.
