Help me give my students their very own ereader to read at home.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Students that read are known to succeed! My students are Readers! They love to read, and they are passionate about education. Although many of my students come from low income single parent homes, my students work hard and beat stereotypes that have been set before them daily. My students prove that coming from a poor community and growing up poor does not determine their future. Covid-19 forced our school to shut down, and students in my classroom had to learn through distance learning. This prove to be a challenge for students in my classroom. As part of our extended school year, our district is asking that students read over the summer. My students live in a rural area. It is not easy to get access to the internet. Many students have to come to the school and use the school's wifi.
My students parents work! I can help cut down the amount of time, my students parents spend at the school using the internet, by providing my students with their own kindles. Parents can come to the school and download books on their students' kindles. Then they would be able to retrieve the book at anytime at home. With a set of kindle ereaders, I can download a whole library of books for my students with just one purchase.
Imagine a time where students not having access to books at home being obsolete!
With a kindle, my students will have access to books at home all the time. With your help, my students will have their own kindles. They would not have to share books that are torn up, worn down, and full of germs. Covid-19 has made it essential for students to be provided with their own electronic devices. Help me stop the spread of germs, provide summer reading materials for poverty students, and help stop the spread of covid be providing my students with their very own kindles to keep at home.
