Read-At-Home Guided Books during COVID19 School Closure

Help me give my students guided reading books at home during this uncertain time of COVID-19 school closure.

My Students

The students at my school are from a variety of diverse backgrounds. They come from different cultures, lifestyles, family structures, and religions. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our elementary building is for students in Kindergarten Prep through third grade. Students learn best when they are actively engaged with their learning and having fun!

My students grow as readers when they have books at their instructional levels to read at home during the school closure.

Remote learning is more effective when guided reading groups can continue with kids having books at home to read and reread.

My Project

These hard working students with disabilities are growing as readers thanks to all of their hard work at school and home. In order to keep them engaged in reading it is important for them to have guided reading books at their instructional reading levels in their homes during this period of school closure. Students are familiar with Literacy Footprints guided reading lessons from Pioneer Valley and would continue to grow as readers with access to these books and lessons at home.

Read-At-Home books from Pioneer Valley are kid-friendly and engaging and will help students to continue to make progress with reading.

Books can help students to not only develop their literacy skills but also to feel a sense of pride in themselves as they work to learn and grow. Books can also bring joy to students which can be so nice in these uncertain times.
