Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are KG, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-grade special education students. They are still learning to read. They are learning their letters and sounds and starting to blend. Most of my students say they can not read, but they can. They need confidence by reading books at their level. When they look at words in a book, not at their level, they just overlook them. I am wanting to change this. Many of the books and readers were chosen because they can read most of the words. The printable ones will allow the students to keep the books at home so they can read.

The pandemic did not help my students.

The computer was not their friend. Most of my students need the one-on-one help to achieve the IEP goals. They need motivation for their teachers to try and do their best.

Other items in my wish list are those to challenge my students to use skills to think. A puzzle is an easy way a group can work together to complete a project. When my students finish a task, they feel great about themselves. The other items help with peer interactions and how to deal with their emotions. Lastly, other items are for organization and storage.
