Help me give my students books and materials to help them during virtual learning in order to participate more easily with class activities, book clubs, and their asynchronous work.
My students are a diverse group. They come from numerous cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds. About a third are in families that struggle with poverty. Reading levels range from first to tenth grade. With their different learning styles, it can be challenging to meet all students' needs while still addressing curriculum guidelines in a virtual setting.
All students in my classroom have different learning styles but still have the opportunity to be active learners, both as leaders and by learning from others.
I try to group students in a variety of ways throughout the day according to their learning needs. This allows us to focus on each individual's strengths as a learner.
My 3rd grade classroom allows them to fill a variety of roles, and I want to provide them with materials to keep them active, allow them to pursue personal interests and passions, and help them become successful as learners and people.
My Project
This year my students are learning in a variety of environments instead of the classroom at school. In these new school settings, students do not have the same access to materials as they would in the classroom. It is important for my students to have the materials they need to succeed no matter where they are learning!
I want to provide my students with materials that will help them participate more thoroughly during their daily lessons, have what they need for asynchronous work, and enhance their virtual learning overall.
Sending home books will help us continue our book clubs. Clipboards with a dry erase surface using dry erase markers when needed will give students a portable writing surface if they do not have access to a table or desk to work at. Other school materials like sticky notes help with organization and note taking. All these items are normally available in the classroom at school, but in a virtual school setting it's necessary to get these materials to students in their new school setting.
