Help me give my students some strong mentor texts to use as Read Alouds. These books expose them to awesome vocabulary, great reading strategies, and allow for deep discussions!
A group of kiddos with a wide imagination and a passion for reading!
These 8 and 9 year olds work so hard every day to better themselves in the area of literacy.
They help each other while working in groups and are very compassionate to those who need some extra help.
These students are all different shapes, sizes, and colors, but you wouldn't even know it! They are accepting and all work together. The school is a modge podge as far as economic status, so we have wealthy, poor, and in between.
My Project
Reading aloud to children gives them the opportunity experience things they might not ever get to see elsewhere. It helps them make connections with others. Thinking aloud helps children learn how to use comprehension strategies in a safe group environment.
Building Language Skills – When reading picture books during story time, children can practice sounding out the language while adults introduce and explain new and interesting words.
They can enjoy reading instead of stressing about doing everything correctly.
Inspiring Visual Thinking - Illustrations in a picture book help children understand what they are reading. Illustrations can help students determine what the story might be trying to say. This can allow students to build confidence in themselves because they have a strategy to use if they are struggling.
