My Students

My students attend a public school in San Francisco, where the diversity is varied tremendously by socioeconomic and demographic backgrounds. During this school closure, many of my students are faced with limited resources in their home setting, making it very difficult to engage in curricular content through virtual media.

By having books to read aloud daily during distance learning, I can continue to support my students in developing their reading skills and strategies, they will be able to continue their path of reading, even from a distance.

Many families are using their last resources and children’s well being are sometimes becoming affected by their family’s financial situations.

My Project

Listening to stories is an effective way to learn how to read. Even though we are not in school, we can still foster children's reading by reading aloud to them. Students can continue to build their reading and comprehension skills through teacher's demonstration during distance learning. We don't just stop learning because school is closed.

Having the variety of books will allow my students to continue their love of reading.

These books will give my students the opportunity to read, listen and explore the great books that are out there.
