My students need good read aloud books! This past year my students loved reading the read aloud books during their independent reading times. This strategy helped improve their reading levels drastically!
The students in our school come from a low-economic area. Many students have hectic family lives or live in foster homes. Getting the children to complete their homework is a struggle. Most parents work nights and children are left alone to do their homework.
We try on a daily basis to make learning fun and engaging for our students.
It is a task to keep them motivated and we are always looking for fun new ways to teach our lessons.
My Project
This past year the students in my class loved to read the read aloud books during their independent reading time. Using this strategy in the class helped students jump reading levels and they didn't even realize it! They really enjoy reading these books as challenging as some of them may be!
A few of the titles in this collection also help the students adjust to the classroom environment in the beginning of the year.
It helps us to talk about first day jitters and classroom rules and routines!
Also, a few of the other titles help us to focus on friendship and kindness and how to deal with difficult situations that we may come across. The children like to relate their own personal experiences to the characters in the books!
