Read Aloud Books to Grow Our Love of Reading

My Students
It is so important to introduce the right books that hold students' attention, allow them to think critically about what is happening throughout the story, and keep them always wanting to read more.
My students are working on building foundational reading skills that will allow them to enjoy a lifetime love of reading. Most of my friends would say their favorite part of the school day is when I read aloud to them and this fact is so exciting! Because of our grade level daily read aloud challenge, my students' love of reading has grown so much in just the few short months that I've had them. I am determined to keep that love growing!
My Project
The fulfillment of this grant will put many different kinds of picture books and chapter books in my students' hands. Students will have access to new, popular books that I do not have in our classroom library. Many of these books cannot be found in our school library either.
These read aloud books will allow me to provide foundational reading skills, introduce new vocabulary, and will help me model what fluent, expressive reading looks like. It is evident that that reading is essential for a child's success. These books will help me continue to grow my students' love of learning and reading.
