My kindergarten students come to school every day eager and excited to learn despite many challenges some are facing. I teach in a low income/high poverty school in the inner city. Eighty-three percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students are English language learners. Diversity is recognized, accepted and promoted in our classroom and school.

In our classroom creativity, innovation, and initiative are encouraged and celebrated. Children are given time to explore, make related discoveries, and experience enriched hands-on activities. High expectation of learning is set for all my students in an environment that is honest, respectful, caring and safe for all.

My Project

In "Purposeful Play" I hope to learn ways to bring the impact of play into all my lessons.
The Kagan books will help me expand my tool kit of cooperative learning strategies to engage all my learners.
I would like to incorporate yoga as a tool for students to regulate their bodies. The books will allow me to learn and teach my students ways to be calm.
