My Students
My students are wonderful. Many come from backgrounds of poverty. It's amazing the life tribulations these kiddos go through while still able to wear a smile. They are so incredibly smart and fun-loving. They work hard and deserve the world.
Though their backgrounds, home lives, and many other aspects of their lives are not ideal, the students still manage to come to school each day excited and eager to learn and explore!
My goal is to make our classroom feel like a home to emphasize that we are family!
My Project
I was instilled with a dire LOVE for reading! My goal is to pass this love for reading on to my own students. In order to do this, read aloud books have become an everyday occurrence in our classroom. My kids enjoy and look forward to our read-aloud sessions. They eagerly await to take a sneak peek and make predictions on what they think the book will be about. Our class gets so involved in our storybooks. We change our voices and act out different portions. The kids are broken-hearted when the book ends.
My goal is to help my students not only grow as independent readers but to LOVE reading as much as I do!
We would love to fill our library with more storybooks and chapter books! We would also love to fill our library with more books about different math, science and social studies topics as well. The kids love when we can connect math and sciences with literature. Being able to make a connection to something in a story, or in real life, helps them to build upon their number sense even more!
