My Students
I have been teaching 4th grade in Georgia for 11 years. I currently teach in a small town school located in a rural mountain area. The poverty level is significantly high with a large percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunches. I love working with my students because everything is simple with them. They do not want or ask for much. They are very appreciative of what they have.
It is my goal this year to create a fun, loving, and safe classroom environment where all of my students are challenged and encouraged to be the best they can be.
My Project
Reading is an integral part of student learning. Many of my students do not have access to books at home, so I would like my classroom to provide students with reading opportunities that they may not have elsewhere.
By giving my students access to a variety of books, they will have a chance to explore their interests while becoming more fluent readers.
I would like my classroom library to have books for all reading levels and interests that is why I have asked for both nonfiction and fiction books.
I want my students to see what the joy of reading can do for them.
