"A child who reads will be an adult who thinks..."
My students attend school in an inner-city neighborhood with a high poverty level and, for many, English is not their native language.
For many students school is their second home. They are kind, funny, loving, and come eager to learn and build relationships with their classmates and teachers.
With these science magazines my students will be able to enhance their overall literacy skills while focusing on current events in science. The non-fiction articles will help students improve reading comprehension as well as writing skills for informational text.
Being able to read science magazines will really help students connect what they learn in class with real life.
Because of barriers with resources many students do not get to experience applying what they learn to the world around them. This will help them get one step closer to a well-rounded, multi-disciplinary education.
