This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in a growing urban community. We have 1200 proud students, 100% are from low-income households, requiring free or reduced-price lunch. We are also fortunate to have a free breakfast program enabling our students to receive proper nutrition to start their day. Regardless of what our students have or have not at home, they are always excited to come to school to learn!

Our school community is enthusiastic about instilling a positive learning environment, always focusing on respect and responsibility.

As a result, our students take pride in being part of our school family.

My Project

As we celebrate the love of reading on Read Across America day in March, students will experience a dedicated moment to celebrate their favorite books. As teachers, we already know that reading is the foundation of learning and we try to instill an on-going love of reading for our students.

As a celebration of reading, the bookmarks for our 1200 students will be a fun keepsake to use in their favorite book.

Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference! The bookmarks have quotes about reading books and are a great inspirational reminder of why we love reading!
