My Students

I am a Reading Specialist in Clinton, Illinois. The district is made up of 50% low income families. We have several emerging readers that struggle because they do not have the literacy resources available to them.

A lot of these kids truly have the cards stacked against them, but they just need books in their hands to become the readers that they have the potential to be!

My Project

Read Across Clinton is a annual program that relies on donations to help students build their very own library at home. Due to the unique circumstances this year, we are unable to get as many donations from local businesses.

Last year this program was fully funded and I had the privilege of watching the students pick out their books.

The joy and excitement on their faces as they picked out their very own books was heartwarming! I knew that I had to be part of such a wonderful program for our young kids!
