Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an inner city public school which houses a program for Autistic Impaired Learners. We have a diverse population of students with various Autism Spectrum disorders.
My classroom consists of eighteen children, two of which are on the Autism Spectrum.
All my students are the most kind and hardworking students you will ever meet. They are so genuinely thoughtful and selfless. Watching how all students accept one another for their unique and beautiful differences is truly amazing. I am the luckiest teacher on the planet!
My Project
Every year we dedicate the first week of March to celebrate Dr Seuss's birthday. It is part of Read Across Day. On this day, we spend the entire day reading books by Dr Seuss and learning about the author. Having a vast array of Dr Seuss's books would give my class more choices to read by the author. After reading the books, the students could watch the animated dvd's based on the stories. The stickers, bookmarks, and pencils are a perfect way to end the celebration by sending them home with the students to commemorate our Read Across America Day.
