Our students come from high poverty, low income, disadvantaged homes. Yet, because we are a high performing arts school, we offer many different electives that instill a lifelong love of learning.
Many stay late after school to participate in dance, theater, and musical productions.
Our school is very limited in funding for textbooks and technology to use in the academic classrooms.
Due to the lack of technology, it is difficult for my students to conduct research or focus on current events.
At MSA, we operate on a block schedule, which allows more time for each class. It's fantastic because I spend more time with my students and they get to learn more about the world of Language Arts and Reading!
However, many students desperately need the opportunity to move during a lesson so their learning isn't hindered.
Eighty-five minutes is over in a blink of an eye to a teacher, but these chairs would help many of my students wiggle their way to academic success.
It's time to ditch traditional seats, because 2018 is the year of flexible seating. Please help my classroom along on its journey where we read a lot, and wiggle a little!
