I have 25 amazing students in a Title I School. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.
I may not be able to control their home lives. However, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
My Project
I teach at a Title 1 school where many of my students come to me below reading level. They have big goals to increase their reading level and comprehension skills while they are with me for first grade.
This Engaging Reader bundle will help my students with their reading, phonics, comprehension, word work, interactive writing and more!
The Read Aloud books that include Piggie Pie, The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog, The Dot, and Abe Lincoln's Hat amongst the others will help me teach the standards for Reading and Phonics. The lessons and books will help me get my students reading like never before! The more you read, the more you know! Reading is the core of everything else in education. My students need to read to understand math problems, science, and social studies.
