Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are between the ages of four and five. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.
This age group requires visual props, small group instruction, creative play, manipulatives and auditory processing opportinities.
We are a Title I School and PHBAO (Predominately Hispanic, Black, or other.) Many of these students come to school without the basic foundation needed to succeed, not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Every student learns through different modalities and it is important to provide a rich environment that is a component of the curriculum.
My Project
Literacy development starts early in life and is highly correlated with school achievement. Early literacy skills are comprised of print concepts, phonological awareness as well as letter and word recognition.
Book reading is an easy way to incorporate both language and literacy skills.
Reading and sharing stories can help your young children with letter sound fluency, vocabulary, language as well as develop other early literacy skills.
Reading books to childen play a vital role in the growth and development of children.
Stories spark your child's imagination and stimulate curiosity. The books they read and the characters they get to know can become like friends.
