With technology in every aspect of our lives it's hard for a book to compete with all the video and computer games for students to play with. The Nook eReader will allow my students to read and use technology at the same time. I can get them hooked on a book with a Nook eReader.
Our school is traditional school in rural area in South Carolina.
I have a spunky, fun, sweet, and smart group of students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. My students love to learn to read and do this in a variety of ways. Their learning styles are also diverse. Some are visual learners, some are kinesthetic learners, and some are auditory learners. They each have been introduced to technology but haven't had the opportunity to enjoy a book with technology from a Nook eReader.
My Project
All children learn in a variety of ways. I want to create a reading corner in my classroom that reflects current technology and the 21st century that we live in. Nooks are electronic readers that can place any book at their fingertips. The Nook will give my students literacy freedom to an unlimited array of books, magazines, and resources that is not available in our school library. It is perfect for sharing because the reading surface is big enough for students to look at. They can easily change the font size for readability and fluency. The Nook eReader could be just what that relucent reader needs to get hooked on a book! Will you help me get my students hooked on reading with a Nook?
By helping fund this project all readers in my classroom from my highest reader to my lowest reader will be able to have a better learning experience in first grade with reading.
The bulk of learning to read takes place in first grade and what better way to do that then put a Nook eReader in their hands to hook them on the next best book. The technology of a Nook just has more appeal than a paper book.
