In the fall of 2020, I will be teaching English/Language Arts and Social Studies to 4th grade world-changers with a growth mindset! My beloved school is a Title I STEAM elementary school whose population is composed of a high population of economically disadvantaged students, as well as minority students and English Language Learners.
My goal is to meet my students' needs by providing a safe, comfortable, and cozy learning environment for them, filled with reading material and flexible learning areas that will engage them and create in them a further desire to explore their world.
Giving students the option of what and where to read, and how to demonstrate their learning will further open the door to critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration.
In a beautifully decorated space covered in wood and greenery, and with comfy bean bags to nestle into, my 4th graders will have a special place you can help me create just for them. I am anticipating this to be a favorite area in our classroom, with a steady flow of visitors.
Each time they nestle down to read a great new book, my kids will be drawn into amazing adventures and new discoveries as they continue to grow in their love of reading.
Can you imagine anything more inviting and satisfying than this?
