Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students work well in groups and are very helpful and kind to each other. They all come from low income neighborhoods and are considered at-risk youth. They enjoy school, they have great attendance, and they love to learn. They really enjoy every opportunity to express their inner creativity.

My students really love creating things and engaging in artistic expression.

They find it to be very exciting and a lot of fun! My students are curious and creative. They love to work in groups and learn together. Working socially while learning helps promote success and inspires them to be lifelong learners.

My Project

I plan to use these class sets of books to promote literature circles in my classroom. When the students are working together toward a common goal, they share their strategies, they learn from each other, and they learn to communicate through the rich discussions that take place during the literature circle meetings.

I plan to teach them how to value the different perspectives readers can have when they’re reading a text.

I want to share these stories with my students because, as a reader, I found these stories intriguing and exciting and I want to share that excitement with them.
