Starting the year with distance learning is not our traditional start and is to something new; my goal is to make the class as engaging virtually as it would be in person!
Our school is located in South San Francisco, north of Silicon Valley, home of technology and innovation, and currently, has more than 500 students. Common Core Math is the math of their generation. What exactly does this mean? This means the generation of tomorrow needs experiences to engage them in critical thinking and problem solving to make learning more meaningful.
Please help my students have an equal opportunity to access the curriculum to have the skills to compete in today's world. These children are the future!
My Project
The use of the digital writing learning tablet will allow math to be more alive and real! As a math teacher, I can model math examples and demonstrate problems with ease. For example, the tablet can write on a screen as I show how to solve equations, find the area and volume of figures, and even graph in real-time. The possibilities are endless. When we return to the classroom, the tablet will allow me to model math problems from anywhere in the classroom! It will increase my mobility to teach freely in the class, and furthermore even the kids can share their thinking on the tablet from anywhere in the room. Let's make this happen so kids can continue to receive a rich education and to prepare them for the years to come!
