My students need more Chromebooks to use Google Classroom and develop their 21st Century Skills. This will allow us to reach students different learning styles, prepare them for their future, and differentiate constantly.
We are a small, rural community. We have students from a variety of backgrounds. Some come from single-parent homes and others are raised by family members other than their parents. Most are dealing with low income and receive assistance from our local Outreach Ministry. However this is only what the outside viewers see. They don't see how hard my students work, despite their hardships. Outside viewers see an "old" school. My students deserve better than the judgments of others and the environment they have to learn in.
My students are intelligent, problem solvers that can overcome their situations.
I have to teach them how to problem solve. We need everything in our arsenal to help them be the success that we know that they can be! They can be so much more than people think they can. I want to lift them up to be all they can be, even if the world around them doesn't believe they can be the amazing stars that I know that they are.
My counterpart and I are making classrooms that thrive on problem solving. We have volunteered in our community, become doctors for a day, and even bakers! We want to dream big!
My Project
These Chromebooks would be used to start Google Classroom in the entire 4th grade. Our school was able to purchase 10 for us last year, however with the cuts that have been made with the government we will not have enough money to complete our class set.
By donating to this project you will allow students to be able to access their learning in multiple ways.
We don't need textbooks for our students. What we need is a way they can gain access to loads of information. By having these Chromebooks I can easily have videos of myself teaching students a topic, which they can watch multiple times, while I can also work in with small groups to help them understand the previous lessons, the present lesson, or even pushing them further. This will allow me to reach all of my students and allow them to receive the best education possible. Not only can I let them re-watch a lesson if they need it, but I can also guide them in their work, they can research for a project, they can start typing a paper, they can access math explanations. I can individualize their learning in a more effective way. For years teachers work on how to manage less paper, teaching each child on their individual level, and still make sure students are learning skills that prepare them for their future. In what better way would students be getting the best experience for their learning? By having these I would be preparing my students for their jobs and lives out in the real world.
