My Students

We start our day by saying "One Team, One Mission!" I work with children from prekindergarten thru 5th grade. My students never had any formal training. This is the first time they will perform. Our students grades and behavioral issues are improving due to dance.

All my students are free lunch recipients.

Most of my students have repeated a grade. My students are between the ages of 4-12 years old. My school is a very small urban school. We have about 250 students at our school. The majority of our students walk to school. My students struggle with self esteem. My students are performing below grade level.

My Project

I teach different types of dance from cultural, hip hop, ballet and etc. In the early spring, we will be introducing the students to drama which they will perform in our "End of the Year" program. We have already performed at local places like Magnet Mania at the Cortana Mall and for the senior citizens at the Leo Butler Community Center. My students can learn more from these different forms of art from videos on the iPad mini.

The students can go on websites on the iPad where they can watch videos, to enhance their performance.

They can also research different forms of dance/dramatic arts. They will be able to enhance fine motor skills, prepares the brain for achievement cultivate better thinking skills supports better habit and self esteem.
