Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a special education teacher serving students in the 7th and 8th grade. They are each eager to find what the day has in store for them. The students I serve have a variety of learning disabilities and challenges. I have 22 students and each one is unique in their own way. They enjoy coming to school and interacting with each other as they learn.

Our school is in one of the poorest counties in the state.

100% of our students receive free lunch. My students come mostly from low income or government assisted homes. Based on their background, most of the students are already faced with challenges before they load the bus in the morning. It is important that my students are provided with hands-on and interactive materials so that they are able to learn through hands-on activities.

My Project

At our school, all of our students are 100% virtual. It is a struggle daily to provide my students with assignments and assessments through a Virtual platform. With this TeachersPayTeachers gift card I will be able to send them assignments directly to their Google Classroom. They will be able to complete it online and return it to me the same way. With the spread of Covid-19 rising in our area it is so important that we practice social distancing and use distant learning.

These assignments will provide practice for the state testing coming up soon!
