My students need more books for our classroom library. We would also like a place to hang out to read these books, so I have asked for some comfortable lounging chairs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love to read and they want more opportunities to read books.
My students are mostly migrant students.
They don't own many personal possessions and when I tried to give a student a book to take home they responded with "mom says we can't keep this because we don't have room in the car". Most of the students I teach travel because their parents work the fields.
My Project
I would like to set up a reading area in my classroom so that during silent reading time the students can go to this area to read the books that are in the classroom. I was thinking that comfortable chairs and seats would help with this and achieve an environment for active reading to take place. This is why I have requested the bean bag chairs and the rolling cart with the baskets. I think that along with these items, new books like, Skippy Jon Jones and the biscuit books, will excite the children about reading. This will allow them to take more Accelerated Reader Tests and reach their own personal AR goals.
I believe that reading is extremely important in all student's lives.
What a great way to empower the students! They will be able to choose books that they want to read. I think by doing this they will enjoy reading more.
