This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 7th and 8th grade students who come from low-income backgrounds and live in low-income neighborhoods. Despite their backgrounds, my students have never let this stop them from being their very best and achieving their highest potentials.
My students are very outgoing and goal-oriented.
Many of my students are already beginning to plan for their futures in high school with their hearts set on achieving honor roll throughout the year in order to ensure they are accepted into a great high school.
My Project
Many of my middle school students are already reading at a high school level and some even at a college level, however, we lack the resources to provide these students with reading materials that match their reading levels. I want my students to have the opportunities to challenge and push themselves to a higher level than where they already are, but the only way for them to do so is by being provided the needed materials. My students are already doing so well for their age to be reading at an upper high school level or even a college level, but as I say to them, "why stop there." With these books, my students will be able to see an increase in their reading levels and the heights of their potentials rise.
