Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright and eager to learn. They all come from different backgrounds and from situations that are far out of their control. Many have mentioned they enjoy coming to school because it's the only thing that is consistent in their lives. They are young first graders who many don't allow their situations at home stop them from trying their hardest at school. They are in my class, in which I try to provide as many resources as I can to help them continue evolving and achieving as much as they can in our class, no matter where they come from.
My Project
Many resources on this project are for my students to be able to use during a math and reading center. Research has shown that centers and a small group is where all the learning takes place. These resources can make those activities in the centers much more appealing to a first grader. What first grader doesn't want to use stamps to practice their spelling words. What first grader doesn't want to throw a dice to decide whether he's going to add or subtract two number.
These center activities will be that much more exciting and inviting to the eye of a first grader with these great resources that we currently lack in our school.
