Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students receive free lunches and their families struggle to meet their day-to-day needs. Despite the challenges they may face at home, my students come to school every day eager and ready to learn and grow.
They are really a wonderful group of sweet, caring, and enthusiastic third graders.
I love their willingness to learn, help each other learn, and grow as a class community. We work together daily to foster a safe, familial environment for them to develop as learners and as citizens.
My Project
My students love technology, and the iPad will help them demonstrate their learning through filming and editing videos of themselves teaching this year's content! They will have the chance to shine as they record themselves teaching the content they have been practicing, whether through "news shows," Reader's Theater, or simple how-to videos.
The whiteboards will help my students collaborate in groups through 360 degree teaching, which allows the students to take charge of their own learning.
They will learn how to effectively work in group settings to work out problems and present their solutions to the rest of the class. The tabletop whiteboards allow them the space to take ownership of their own learning and teaching!
These students are enthusiastic learners, and cannot wait to use these materials to facilitate their own learning discussions in the classroom. The materials in this project will allow them to develop their leadership skills while practicing the content of the third grade curriculum.
