This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is an ethnically diverse Title I school in Georgia. Many of the students are receiving free lunch provided at school. Many of them live in nearby motels. I service students with special needs in a small group setting. Their family environment is very challenging for my students, and they are socially, economically deprived in many areas. They come to school expecting teachers to care, love, and provide for their needs.
During this distance learning time, my special education students require adapted lessons that meet their unique learning targets.
My students have to have modified teaching resources for them to learn their individual goals, especially when I am not there to support in person. My students need my support throughout the day. It is not worth spending my time in reinventing the same resources that are already created by the teacher who had a similar experience in working with special needs students.
My Project
One thing that I always make sure of in my lesson plans will be the right materials to teach the standards. I used Teachers Pay Teachers' resources in the past. Their resources are broken down into small steps to meet their learning styles. The visuals, activities, and interactive journals will benefit my students to be motivated during this difficult time.
Teachers Pay Teachers' distance learning resources are the best source for teachers as we left all our resources back in the school building.
The resources in this online market place are like the one spot shopping for all our teaching needs. Their video making resources, the slides, and PowerPoint templates are some of the few where I will be able to reach my students to meet their individual needs.
