My Students

I teach school with some amazing students and teachers. We have parents that love to support their student's learning and are very involved. My fourth grade children each year, though, are becoming more diversified in both their culture and in their educational needs. In teaching, there is a lot of time spent on those that are not learning the material, and rightly so, but every child deserves to make a year's progress. I am concerned about those children that need to be pushed because they already understand the material. I have a large class with varied needs and I would like to meet as many of those needs as possible.

My Project

In this time of growing technology, students need to learn the skills of coding at a younger age. By allowing students to learn to control these robots, students will become engaged with the idea of coding and want to learn more. It will also allow for the extension of students that want to go beyond, and also find an outlet for students that may not connect to the regular content. These robots will allow students to think outside of the box and learn to problem solve in a way that they would normally not have access. As they learn to code these robots, they will also be using cross curricular content to figure out the best way to achieve their purpose.
