Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at an inner city, all girl, public school where my district is 100% free or reduced lunch. The girls at my school are amazing leaders and are encouraged to go through life with the three c's in mind. This means that students are confident about themselves, competent in every task that they complete both in and outside of the school, and compassionate towards the world around them.

For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to create a learning environment where students feel safe, challenged, and welcome to come back even if it is just for a moment to breathe.

The joy I have when working with my students is evident not only in the classroom but also in other parts of the school through my commitment to both our musical theater and our cheerleading program. I have always believed that school should not only be a safe place but also a place where they are challenged as both students and future world leaders.

My Project

My students and I have been learning in a remote environment since March 2020. Each day students show up to class eager and ready to conquer the lessons for that day. I am proud to share that my students consistently have 100% attendance each day.

I would love to be able to add Nearpod to my live lessons to increase student engagement .

During parent teacher conferences, many families shared that their students had a hard time focusing during live lessons. By adding Nearpod to my live lessons I will be able to engage students in a real time, interactive manner.
