Help us to make learning come alive! Erik Willey said "Interactive technology for the classroom is one of the fastest growing segments in education, and offers tremendous potential for improving the learning process." A projection camera would help my students see and participate in our learning.
My students are made up of multiple ages and grade levels.
My students are part of the Early Intervention Program (EIP) because they have been shown to be performing below grade level. They all come to school with a desire to learn and be successful, but with some hurdles to overcome. We are a Title I school and most of our students are English Language Learners and/or receive free/reduced price lunch. It is because of this that giving them opportunities to experience and interact with the latest technology and hands-on materials is vital to their academic success. My students often go home to houses without computers, Internet access, etc. and we have to do our best to give them those experiences while they are at school with us.
My Project
Having an interactive projection camera will make a big change in the learning experiences my students will have with me. I can use it to read a book to the class. The children will be able to see the book enlarged on the screen. I would be able to point to the words with my finger as I read, and the children could see my finger sweep from left to right. I can show children how to use classroom materials and games that are part of our math and literacy centers . I can use it to project a pattern block design for children to duplicate with their own pattern block, or to explore place value, 3-D shapes, or counting money. Finally, it can be used as a webcam if you want to do a videoconference with a community helper or anyone you want to talk to the class who is not able to be there in person. The possibilities are endless!
This is such an important project for my students!
Imagine the benefits of being able to something that is useful and "cool" at the same time! It can be used for variety of purposes in my classroom. I can use it to display student work, read alouds, textbook pages, math manipulatives, and making word tiles - all improving student achievement and making learning a little more fun! After all our goal is to create lifelong learners!
