My 4th grade students are from a high poverty elementary school in northeast Ohio. All of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a wraparound school that tries to provide for all the needs of our students.
We need to provide them with access to technology at school because many don't have it in their homes.
We do have access to high quality websites and apps for class. My students love to see the amazing things that are offered to them on the web through classroom computers and the school computer lab. We need Chromebooks to allow us to experience these things during class when it is not our assigned time in the computer lab.
My Project
My students are actively engaged in classroom technology throughout the day. I currently have three Chromebooks to use daily in the classroom, along with three desktop computers provided by the district. I'd like to build up that number to 5 Chromebooks in the classroom with this project to allow for flexibility in learning centers. We need additional Chromebooks to use while we are on educational websites such as Compass Learning for Reading and Math, or researching places and cultures from around the globe in Social Studies.
