This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I get the pleasure of teaching over 600 eager and enthusiastic learners. I am able to teach an enrichment class to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We learn about different life skills and character traits and get to focus on needs of each different class in the school.
My students are mainly from low socioeconomic backgrounds and face many obstacles in learning.
I strive to help them gain confidence and learn skills that do not get in other areas of school. I want them to have pride in all aspects of what they do.
My Project
The Ron Clark Academy is a training dream for most teachers. This summer, thirteen teachers and administrators from my school attended professional development at RCA and the knowledge and enthusiasm they brought back to our school has been amazing. They are also known for transforming education and the way we engage our students in the content they are learning.
This training will provide me with the opportunity to learn a variety of strategies that will help me deliver effective and engaging instruction to my diverse group of students.
In addition to observing lessons taught by master teachers at RCA, I will also get to learn from Ron Clark himself, visit with the master teachers about their lessons and teaching practices, and will become slide certified! As a new teacher, this will truly set the pace for my teaching career and touch countless students’ lives.
