Students learn through doing! In my classroom, this means that during math and reading, students engage in a variety of learning activities to help them practice their skills.
My classroom is filled with 31 busy fourth graders.
Some students come to school equipped with the skills and support they need to be successful, while others are not as fortunate. This means that to help all of my learners, my instruction cannot be one size fits all and I need to find ways to both challenge and support all of my students.
My Project
The resources I have requested are to support my math instruction. With the math mats, students will be able to work with small groups to practice the skills we are covering in class. By using the math facts cards, students will practice fluency in multiplication and division, which are important for their math foundational skills as they continue on in education. The time tracker will help the students visually see how much time they have in each work group, allowing them to not focus on how much time do they have left, but instead the task they are working. Using these resources as a part of my math rotations, this will allow my students to be actively engaged in learning. While my students are working in rotations that are engaging, I have the opportunity to pull both small group/individuals to support their learning. That means I can challenge those that need a push, and support those who need extra support.
These donations will improve my classroom in a variety of ways.
They will allow me build math rotations that are engaging, help support the concepts I am teaching, and support the learning of my students. This will help change my students' lives because not only will they be engaged but they will be practicing skills of guiding their own learning, responsibility, and motivation as they monitor their behavior in each rotation.
