My Students

Our school is an academically successful, rural high school that is filled to the brim with about 900 wonderful students. We have about half of our students who get free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Additionally, at our high school, we have a backpack buddy weekend food program. We serve our military community as well, pulling in students whose parents serve or work at the USMC and Naval facilities at Camp Lejeune or Cherry Point, the two Coast Guard stations, and/or Bogue Air Field.

Through our state's report card system, we have been given an "A" designation.

My classroom consists of 9+special needs students in which we have created an environment where they can thrive and have the best opportunities at learning life skills, job skills, and functional skills that will benefit and make their lives better. While we are already doing great things, there is a never ending need to improve and add skills.

My Project

It has always been my professional goal to advance my career through National Board Certification. As a teacher of Exceptional Children, becoming Nationally Board Certified will allow me to improve my teaching practices as well as demonstrate my commitment to excellence. I am confident that the knowledge I will gain from this process will help me to become an even more effective teacher.

I am always looking at the best ways to improve myself as a teacher and I believe that becoming National Board Certified will help me achieve my career goals and best serve all of my students.
