This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think." ~Christopher Robin. Hands-on learning allows my students to believe and accomplish their educational goals. My students need the opportunity to learn in alternate ways. Children need to enjoy learning.
Many of my students were not confident about themselves in a school environment.
Students struggled with all core subjects. Things quickly changed when I introduced learning centers. The majority of my kids and the school we attend are considered at risk and come from a low economic background in North Texas. They are great kids who want to learn, but need alterative ways that make learning exciting and fun. They need hands-on activities along with teacher instruction to understand what is being taught. They are more successful academically and with behavior when hands-on learning is incorporated in the classroom.
My Project
My classroom was awarded the opportunity to test out technology. We create so many things and we need a printer to show off students' writing and creations with technology. The construction paper will be used to create projects from our reading stories and science topics. The learning centers will be used as a teaching tool. They will incorporate what they learned in class into the learning center for each core subject.
My students will find the joy of learning with confidence and a better understanding of the core subjects being taught.
They will have the ability to produce work with technology and use the printer to express themselves. This will change their view of their educational outcome. They will build a sense of leadership by conducting a learning center that will follow the knowledge of teacher instruction.
