My students need eReaders for independent reading because they are reading below grade level and are embarrassed to read in public books on their level.

Do you love to read? Do you find it challenging? Well my students are special education students with specific learning disabilities enrolled in a drop-out prevention middle school program. Reading is a challenge and most of them are reading below grade level.
Each and every student is faced with challenges in every area of life.
They are special education middle school students who are at-risk of dropping out of school. They are enrolled in a drop-out prevention middles school program. The goal of the program is to help them make learning gains so that when they go to high school they can be enrolled in their appropriate grade. They have faced so much failure in their lives that they often do not even try to succeed. They know they can fail without even trying and so they do not make the effort to succeed. Most of them are not reading on grade level due to their learning disabilities. Many are embarrassed to read materials on their reading level for fear of ridicule from their peers.
With the use of NOOK WiFi eReaders I hope to encourage and inspire them to grow to love reading. eReaders will help fade the stigma of not being able to read age appropriate books because their peers will not know what they are reading. An added incentive would be the ability to use the latest technology, which today's students love.
Being an efficient reader is essential to academic and life success.
With your help my students can begin to feel successful and begin the journey on the road to being a productive citizen in the 21st century. With the use of NOOK WiFi eReaders I hope to encourage and inspire them to grow to love reading. eReaders will help fade the stigma of not being able to read age appropriate books because their peers will not see what they are reading.
