My students need an iPod Touch and a docking station so that I can more efficiently access the different songs we sing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you noticed that words paired with music are so much easier to remember? Do we not still sing the ABC song when we need to file papers in alphabetical order? I have observed that music not only calms my students but also heightens their interest in learning.
I have a class of 24 extremely energetic kindergarteners who are excited about school and learning.
Unfortunately, many of my students did not have the advantage of attending preschool and so are in school for the first time this school year.
Our school is located in a low socioeconomic neighborhood where many gang and drug related crimes occur. Although they are very curious, my students have such limited opportunities to experience the world around them. They would certainly benefit from as much support as we can give them.
My Project
Music is a very powerful medium for learning. In my kindergarten class, we use music across the curriculum to support student learning. Learning concepts through songs engages students with different learning styles and encourages much more active participation. It is for these reasons that I have quite an extensive library of Cd's. I have songs to help my students learn calendar concepts, letter formation, sight word recognition, counting, kindness, safety, respect, etc. You name it, we have a song for it. I would love to be able to download all my teaching/children's songs to an iPod and organize the thousands of songs into different playlists, for example "Alphabet", "Numbers", "Movement", Transition, etc. This would save us valuable time. Finding the song I need could be done efficiently, without having to look for and change Cd's. With the docking station, songs will be played clearly and consistently.
I would really appreciate receiving an iPod and docking station because using these would save us so much time in looking for songs.
I use music as a medium to help my students learn and retain information. Thus, we sing so frequently throughout the day. Time spent looking through Cd's could be better spent interacting with and teaching my students.
