Reach For The Stars And Planets!

My students need touch lights to recreate the solar system in our classroom and homes. With the Sharpie markers, they'll make their planet come to life in a 3-D, colorful way!

My Students

Hi, thank you for taking interest in my students. I'm a sixth grade science teacher in a diverse, low-income setting (high poverty area). I love when students learn through hands-on labs, activities, field trips and technology. Students learn better with experience and examples and I like to utilize that in the classroom. Every student deserves the opportunity to experience everything science has to offer. I appreciate all acts of kindness to fund "experiences" for my students. Thank you! Go science!

My Project

Going into our Solar System unit is an exciting time for students. Middle school students are drawn to the exploration of the universe and questioning what's out there. As we study each planet, they will be able to take their knowledge and color the requested Meridian electric LED cylinder tap lights into their favorite planets.

In a galaxy not so far far away scientists are continually learning about the space around us.

Being able to make a hands-on planet light, using the requested touch lights and Sharpie color burst and metallic markers, will allow students to continually inquire and learn about the planet they choose to represent by artistically creating the same colors and patterns of a specific planet.

It's been proven that students learn more by thinking outside of the box and text books. Giving them this opportunity to create something with their hands will stick with them longer. Students live to show creativity and utilizing the Sharpe color burst and metallic markers will brighten their canvas (Meridian electric LED tap lights). And just to make sure their planet shines bright in the sky, each student will receive the correct amount of AA Performance Alkaline batteries for their light.
