Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 4th grade math and science teacher at a charter school. My school has provided character and lifelong learning through challenging educational experiences. My students are creative, curious, and resourceful. They are 126 of the most wonderful 4th graders and come from extremely diverse social and economic backgrounds. I am fortunate to work with kids from great families, a supportive school administration, and teachers who are working hard to create a community school where children can thrive.
Our school is a free public charter school run by the city, Title I, and 51% of our students qualify for the free/reduced lunch program.
My Project
My students love to research and dive into thier STEAM curriculum. But, we lack enough technology to have all students work on thier research projects. With 4 new Kindle tablets my students can work in groups to expand thier love of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education to spark an interest in all areas. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students. Students in my classroom like to work with thier hands using technology to research thier engineering projects. Technology will help push my students forward in their education.
