Have you ever struggled with something in school, became frustrated, and just wanted to give up? I have students who struggle in reading and math. As a teacher, I want my students to have access to a Kindle Fire HD tablet to enhance their learning experience in reading and math.
The students in my class and at my school are full of energy, inquisitive wonder, and enthusiasm.
They come from various diverse cultures, speak different languages, and many of their families are struggling economically. The school they attend is in the state of Washington. It is culturally diverse with over 83% free or reduced lunch and over 40% English Language Learners.
My Project
As we strive to create 21st century learners, we need to utilize 21st century resources. Technology opens the window that allows children to see the world around them. Technologically advanced children are prepared for their future. If technology is used in a positive way, students can learn about the world and the wonderful diversity out there.
With the 2 Kindle Fire HDs, 2 PowerFast chargers and 2 pairs of headphones, my multicultural classroom of first and second graders will have access to books at their reading level, phonics games, Internet to research information, sight word development activities, and numerous other curriculum resources. With 2 Kindle Fire HDs, the possibilities are endless! They will provide a boost in student engagement across the curriculum. Learning through technology stimulates student thinking and makes learning fun.
