My Students
Struggling to learn to read in elementary school was the reason I became an educator. My students this year are energetic and love to read! From reading fiction to poetry they are dreamers looking to use their creative imaginations. They are great role models for life long learning and continue to build a strong reading life. Overflowing with excitement and continuing to absorb all that school has to offer.
Growth mindset is a goal that we strive each child to have as they grow into adulthood.
Our school serves students in K-5 grade and provides rigorous academics and a safe learning environment. We also have many students who come back to volunteer as a high school student and/or student teach. Our staff takes pride in shaping the minds of the future and challenging them along the way!
My Project
Adding more titles to our classroom library will allow students to explore new text genres as well as provide more titles. We continue to work on reading a variety of genres in class and challenge ourselves as readers.
Writing also ties into this project as we read books as a mentor text to learn more about different text structures.
Read alouds throughout the year are put to use and referred to as students learn how to write for different purposes and genres. We review books as a class and display portions of the text to study and look at closer.
