My students need the Ozobots to tell about a moment in history in a visual way with coding. Students research an event in history and use the programming from the Ozobots to reenact it.
My role in the school division is a little different than most teachers. I am an instructional technology resource teacher. This means that I work with all teachers at my assigned school(s) to implement and integrate technology into the classroom.
I currently serve 2 elementary schools and I am in the classrooms on a daily basis to work with teachers and students to impact their instruction with technology while keeping the rigor and standards in mind.
One elementary school has almost 800 students and is very into a project based learning approach to education. They use technology on a daily basis and will greatly benefit from this enhancement.
The other school that I have is about 600 students and they come from a broader area in the center of the Williamsburg area. The teachers and students are dedicated and excited for new ways to include technology
My Project
The idea of this project comes from my love of social studies and technology. The objective is to re-enact an event in history using the Ozobots.
The students will work cross- curricular in math, social studies, library science, and technology.
Students will need to work with the library media specialists to research the event. then they will have to work on understanding the programs that the Ozobots can learn. They will then work that into figure out mathematically how that will work and eventually re-enact the event.
They will build a set and they can decorate the Ozobots to finish the reenactment. They also must describe what the Ozobot is doing and how it coincides with the historical event. This whole project will be collaborative throughout the whole process.
