My students need the word families and rhyming center pocket chart, basic phonic skills books, and the phonics dominoes blends to increase their reading skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are elementary students in a special education classroom. They are second graders who are eager to learn, especially using technology. About 90% of our students are African American. I'm a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district. The students attend school with many challenges.
They do struggle with their reading and math skills.
Most of my students are functioning at least two years below their grade level. My students are more than one grade level behind compared to their peers.
My Project
These materials will help my special education resource students to increase their reading skills. My students need as many various resources as possible to keep them engaged and motivated to learn. The phonics books, reading comprehension books, and hands on resources for my project will help my students in many ways to fulfill this purpose.
My students function below grade level and need to increase their basic phonic skills to help them to read.
My students love to learn in a fun hands on way. Also they will benefit from learning how to comprehend what they have read by learning to read stories.
